Luang Prabang, day 3

Went to the night market last night to soak up the riot of colors and have a kickass meal for $4, including a dark beerlao, which has become my staple beverage.

Then this morning out to see the procession of monks again.

Afterwards, I went to a learning center for weaving, run by a british woman and a lao woman. Their goal is to support indigenous weaving and resurrect lost techniques by providing a market. I was able to watch and photograph several weavers.

I walked back instead of taking the tuk-tuk, going past what most tourists don't see, which is where the smiling people who wait on you all day live. Note the satellite dishes on top of every shack.

Then to an older wat.

and the National Museum, featuring the most brilliantly gilded temple yet, of course.
