There is something appealing about shadows. the crisp, clean lines of a silhouette. Almost like a cartoon, devoid of color and form. Telling a story in the simplest, clearest way. I was on top of Mt. Nebo, where the Bible says Moses had his conversation with God via the burning bush. Jordan in general and this spot in particular are very popular with Christian tourists. I am not one of these. Therefore, since the old chapel had been demolished and replaced by a huge construction site, all I had to photograph was the surprisingly drab view of the Promised Land or the shadows of pilgrims happily taking pictures of it and of each other in front of it.
