Luang Prabang, day 1 [Nov. 28th, 2011|06:49 pm]
The Image Collector

World Heritage city on the banks of the Mekong, Luang Prabang is full of Wats, robed monks, guest houses, and restaurants. It is quite beautiful, but oddly unbalanced. If all the guest houses ever fill up, this place would be overrun with tourists. I have a feeling it will reach that point in the near future. I wandered around the peninsula between the Mekong and the Nam Khan rivers, in and out of Wats of varying ages and repair, chatting with monks and jockeying for position with other photographers.

this young man is Lao Loum

The 500 year old Wat Wisunarat. The first image is of Calling For Rain Buddhas.

This Buddha is 500 years old, the gilding 100 years old.

Love the last photo. The path looks so inviting, I want to hop in the frame and walk along it.
